Big Brown to the first Horse Racing Triple Crown winner
in 30 years...it was 1978 when Affirmed last won a
Triple Crown now Big Brown after his dominating performace
in the 2008 Breeders Cup seems primed to take a
legitimate shot at the most elusive prize in sports....he
is head and shoulders above the rest of the 3 year
olds in 2008 so it would seem it is only a matter
of injury that can stop this progeny of Boundary from

the Triple Crown 2008, more specifically following the Belmont Stakes
in June.<br>

Fiesty's Breeders Cup Blog:<br>

The <em>Breeders Cup preps</em> are pretty much wrapped
up. I expect it's possible a new contender will emerge after
the Lexington Stakes but will the horse have enough time to
recover in order to run a good race in the Breeders Cup?<br>
<br>
Where we stand:<br>
<br>
It has been one heck of a Spring/ Derby prep season..there
really has not been a single dominant horse...Big Brown is
undefeated but he has only raced 3 times. He reminds me a
little bit of Discreet cat a couple years ago. I was really
hoping Discreet Cat would run in the Breeders Cup because
he was one of my early <em>Breeders Cup Picks</em> and I
was really disappointed when his connections chose not to
run him.<br>
<br>
Now we are left with the rising star of Big Brown..he is also
lightly raced and his connections are all systems go for the
Derby...and he is the early Derby favorite on several lists.<br>
<br>
Pyro...what happened to Pyro? it was certainly a disappointing
race in the Blue Grass Stakes..up until then he really looked
like the most consistent horse but now there are question
marks as to whether Pyro will be able to bounce back in Kentucky
Derby 134.<br>
<br>
War Pass? well he certainly picked things back up,,. still
a lot of questions remain especially about the distance I
would like to ask Nick Zito a few question.<br>
<br>
Gayego ran a strong race in the Arkansas Derby as did Z fortune..Denis
of Cork is in..he is coming off a bad race.. Colonel John
looks pretty good.<br>
<br>
Now we have Todd Pletcher's pair coming off the 1-2 finish
they certainly figure in the mix especially if you consider
horses coming to a peak at just the right time..there are
a couple more Breeders Cup contenders that merit a shot
and I will speak to them later this week<br>
